Starting the build of a 28mm oil rig for Spectre missions. Just some initial pictures for now, but more will follow!
28mm figure for scale.
Nest are the big stairs connecting the floors of the oil rig.
Below I am trying out the layout of the superstructure and buildings. It is important to keep enough space to place and move miniatures during the game. Although the rig can be taken apart for transport this is impractical during play. I built the basic shapes of the superstructures buildings and detailing will follow.
A 1/43 Jet Ranger helicopter and some 28mm figures for scale. |
And with the first layers of paint on the hull the building of the superstructure can progress...
Starting the superstructur: doors and windows
Detailing the bridge |
A decompression tank or something to put explosive stuff in |
The crane |
The submarine shed. Waddaya mean oil rigs don't have submarines? Of course they do! |
Helicopter pad |
And my littte trick to close doors..... |
....and open them again! |
And more painting....
And testing the compactness for transport
See the (mostly) finished rig here
Wow! Impressive start. I'll be very interested to see how this turns out.
